If you travel by car, the GPS route will take you through the town of Cunha. However, this highway is in very bad condition and presents serious danger to drivers. A safer alternative to reach Paraty is HIGHWAY SP-099 (TAMOIOS), which goes through the town of Caraguatatuba.
